Common jobs
What people usually call us about
No water at the house
Usually the pump, the pressure switch or an empty tank.
Pump running constantly
Usually an empty water tank, a line leak or an internal pump fault. Running dry burns motors out, so turn it off and call early.
Dirty water or bad taste
Filtration or UV past its service life. We test, then fit what the water actually needs.
Trough not filling
Ballcocks, line pressure or a partial blockage. Straightforward once the cause is found.
New tank install
Base, plumbing in, overflow and connection to the house or the shed.
Frost damage
Split pipework and cracked fittings after a hard winter, repaired and properly insulated (lagged).

FAQs
Questions we get asked about tanks and pumps
Do you travel out to lifestyle blocks?
Yes. Wellington City, Porirua and Lower Hutt are Zone 1. Wainuiomata, Eastbourne, Upper Hutt, Pukerua Bay and the Kapiti Coast are Zone 2, with a slightly higher travel charge.
My pump keeps cycling on and off. Is that bad?
Usually a lost air charge in the pressure tank, a faulty non-return valve or a leaking tap. An easy fix when caught early.
Can you test my drinking water?
We can carry out basic on-site testing for pH and hardness. For full potability tests (bacteria and heavy metals), we can arrange for a sample to go to an accredited laboratory, so you get independent, certified results.
Do you install tanks as well as plumb them in?
Yes, we handle the full job. We can prepare the base, supply the tank, install wind tie-downs if required, and complete all the plumbing connections. Everything is set out in our upfront quote before we start.
How long does a pump or filtration job take?
A straight pump replacement on existing pipework usually takes one to two hours. Installing a multi-stage UV filtration system typically takes half to three quarters of a day. A new tank connection depends on the distance and the pipework required. We can give you a written quote with the expected time to complete before we start.
Should I repair the pump or replace it?
A pump under about eight years old with a failed switch or vessel is worth repairing. Once the motor itself is going, or the pump is undersized for what the property now uses, replacing it is the better spend. We will tell you which it is rather than defaulting to a new unit.
How long should a pump, tank and filter last?
A domestic pressure pump typically runs 8 to 12 years, a poly tank 20 years or more if it is UV stable and sitting on a proper base, and cartridge filters need changing every 6 to 12 months depending on how dirty the supply is. UV lamps are an annual replacement regardless of how they look.
What tank, pump and filter brands do you supply and service?
We regularly install Devan and RX Plastics tanks, Davey pumps, and Puretec or Watts filtration, but we work with any brand. Whether you are sourcing a specific setup or need us to supply and fit reliable gear, we have you covered.
What should I have ready before you come out?
Vehicle access to the tank and pump shed, and the gates unlocked or the dogs tied up. If you know the pump brand and roughly how old it is, tell us when you book, it means we are more likely to arrive with the right parts on the first trip.
